Other uses for Home Oxygen Therapy
Another common use of home oxygen is for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).
Congestive heart failure (CHF) is when the heart does not pump enough blood (oxygen) to the body. The cells in the body need oxygen and therefore an additional flow of oxygen (usually during sleep) is required. This can be delivered through home oxygen therapy. Heart failure is on the increase as a result of successes in treating heart attacks and other cardiac conditions. As people with damaged hearts are living longer, they become more susceptible to heart failure.3
It is estimated that there are 500,000 Canadians living with heart failure and 50,000 new patients are diagnosed each year.4
Home Oxygen Therapy has also been found to be efficacious for cluster headaches, wound healing, other cardio-respiratory conditions and many others. Check with your doctor if you think home oxygen may be right for you.
